MTR is proud to present the premiere of UNPRECEDENTED: A MODERN MUSICAL. Written by up and coming composer, Jacob Ryan Smith (@jakesmithsings ), the original musical will be a 40 minute performance shot under CDC and USC-COVID-19 guidelines.

Synopsis: The world has ended and the new Covid-19 pandemic has landed college senior Diana and her best friends, Taylor and Marshall, trapped in their childhood bedrooms. Desperate to connect, they log into their computers and unpack their new reality: graduating online, the awkwardness of FaceTime sex, the intensity of mental illness, an uncertain future, and of course drinking on Zoom at 2pm. Driven by a pop-musical score with witty and raw dialogue, this digital musical takes a completely unprecedented step into a new genre of musical theater.

Joy will be designing the Sound for Musical Theatre Repertory’s production of Hair set to go up once Covid-19 Social Distancing restrictions are lifted. Hair will be performed in the Massman Theatre at USC.
